Improvisation, or improv, is a form of live theatre in which the plot, characters and dialogue of a game, scene or story are made up in the moment. While improv skill development is fundamental for actors, the same principles come in handy in everyday life as well.

This 6-week workshop (Fall, Winter and Spring Sessions) will introduce your child to the creative world of acting and improv as well as help prepare them for the practical stuff they make encounter in life such as interviews, speeches and other impromptu public performances. Each class will begin with fun and engaging warm-up exercises and games that will allow students to feel at ease with their peers. Students explore different techniques including pantomime, storytelling and role-play through multiple exercises and scenarios including a simulated audition/interview. Character and plot development will also be introduced. Fundamentals to theater art will also be incorporated such as blocking and stage movement, voice projection and facial/body expression as well as the history of drama, basic stage terminology and etiquette.

This workshop encourages creativity and self-expression and assists with self-confidence as well as communication and active listening skills. This workshop will benefit all youth regardless of interest and personality. Students are encouraged to sign up for all three workshops.
